Cheap Chelsea Football Shirts continued their march towards their first Women’s Champions League title with an emphatic 3-0 win in the first leg of their quarter-final against Ajax.
Lauren James’ 15th goal of the season opened the scoring for Chelsea, followed by a brace from Sjoeke Nusken, who dominated against a young Ajax Boy’s Jersey side making their quarter-final debut.
The second leg will be played at Stamford Bridge on 27 March and Chelsea are well placed to secure their fifth European semi-final appearance in six seasons under manager Emma Hayes.
Ajax, buoyed by their record crowd of 35,991, showed early promise but were unable to capitalise. Chelsea’s early pressure paid off with James’ goal and, despite a Guro Reiten offside, Nusken extended the lead just before half-time.
Chelsea’s dominance continued in the second half, with the substitutes making their presence felt. Catarina Macario provided the assist for Nusken’s second goal to seal a comprehensive victory.
Emma Hayes stressed the need for a big support at Stamford Bridge, and urged fans to turn out in their numbers for the second leg. She praised her team’s professionalism and defensive solidity, highlighting outstanding performances from Kadeisha Buchanan and Nusken, while acknowledging the importance of staying focused for the remainder of the tie.
